3.1 Connectivity Issues related to Windows Firewall.

Scenarios where the issue occurs:-

The Scenarios where this issue can occur is as follows:

  1. Windows Firewall is ON / don’t allow Exception option is enabled (At both Server and Client End).
How to Identify the issue:-

Steps that help us to identify the issue are as follows:

  1. Client is not showing connected on the server machine.
  2. We are getting the ping response between the server and the client however the client is not showing connected in the Café Manager Console.
  3. The C3M Server Logs shows that the terminal is not communicating with the server application.
Solution Provided:-

Steps to resolve the issue are as follows:

  1. Check if the Client Server connectivity is established through the ping command.
  2. In Café manager Console go to the File->Application Settings-> General -> Enable the Network Log option.
  3. Re-login to the Café Manager Console or Click on Reconnect Terminal link under System Tools in the Café manager Home Screen.
  4. Now Go to the following path “C:/Program Files/Ideacts/Clinck Cyber Café Manager/Logs and then check the file UDP Send to Client and UDP Received from Client for the following info:
    1. In UDP Send to Client file check if the “Server’s IP address and the Café Code is mentioned”
    2. In UDP Received from Client file check if “Clients IP Address, Terminal Name, Café Code is mentioned”
  5. The above step will help us to check for the Server Client connectivity.
  6. Close the Café Manager Console.
  7. And open the Windows firewall. Use any one of the following steps to open up the Windows firewall
    1. Go to Start->Run-> type firewall.cpl-> Click Ok.
    2. Go to Control Panel->Windows Firewall
  8. Once the Windows Firewall is opened Click on General Tab. There will be 3 options.
    1. On (Recommended)
  1. Don’t allow Exceptions
  1. Off (not Recommended)
  1.  Select the option “a” and you should uncheck the option “Don’t allow Exceptions” (Because all those programs and services added in the Windows firewall exception list will be blocked for the communication.)
  2. Click on the “Exceptions” Tab and check the Program and services lists. Please check for the below mentioned services.
    1. CCMUI

Note:    These 3 ports will be added automatically while installing the application.
TCPListenPort which uses Port 36500
UDPListenPort which uses Port 36502
UDPSendPort which uses Port 36501

  1. Click on “Ok” button in the Firewall screen.
  2. Open the café manager Console, while opening you will get a “Windows Security Warning “ Message and the options are shown as
    1. Keep Blocking
    2. Unblock
    3. Ask me later
  3. Click on “Unblock” button. Once you click on “Unblock” button CCMUI exe file will be added in the Firewall Exception.
  4. Now open the Café manager Console and check whether the Terminals are connected or not.
  5. If still it is not connected go to the step 7 & 8.
  6. Select the option “b” and Click on “Ok”. And go to the step 3.
  7. At the Client Side do the Admin Login using the “Café Code and partner Site Password” or “Unique ID and Temporary Password”
  8. Once Logged in Go to the step 7 , 8 & 9
  9. And Click on the “Exceptions” Tab and check the Program and services lists. In this list Below 4 should be present.
    1. Clinck Client
    2. TCPSEND
    3. UDPBROADCAST
    4. UDPSEND

Note:    These 3 ports will be added automatically while installing the application.
TCPSEND uses the Port 36500
UDPBROADCAST uses the Port 36502
UDPSEND uses the Port 36501

  1. Click on “Ok” button in the Firewall screen.
  2. Now Start the Client application, while the application starts  you will get a “Windows Security Warning “ Message and the options are shown as
    1. Keep Blocking
    2. Unblock
    3. Ask me later
  3. Click on “Unblock” button. Once you click on “Unblock” button Clinck Client exe file will be added in the Firewall Exception.
  4. If still it is not connected go to the steps 17, 7 & 8.
  5. Select the option “b” and Click on “Ok”. And go to the step 3.
So, doing the above steps will resolve this type of issue.
