Print Manager always displays print count as 0 or an incorrect print count.

Scenarios where the issue occurs:-

The Scenarios where this issue can occur are as follows:

  1. Re-installation of Ms-office application on the Client/Server machine.
  2. MS Office installed with the older updates.
How to Identify the issue:-

Steps that help us to identify the issue are as follows:

  1. Print Manager show’s no of print counts as “0” in C3M
  2. Print Manager does not reflect the correct print count (For eg if two copies of the same print job are given it reflects only one) in C3M
Solution Provided:-

There are two steps to resolve the issue

  1. Install appropriate Hot fix depending on the version of Ms-office or
  2. Set, ‘Force Set Copy Count’ option under registry depending on the version of Ms-office
  1. How to check for the Service Pack Version of MS-Office:
    • For Ms Word 2003
      1. Start Ms-Word 2003 from Programs menu
      2. Open the About Us Dialog Box from Help > About Us
      3. Check which Service Pack is installed, it will either be Service Pack 1/ Service Pack2 or none.
  • For Ms Word 2007
  1. Start Ms-Word 2007 from Programs menu
  2. Click on Office menu(Upper Left)
  3. Click “Word Options” at the bottom of the menu
  4. There , select  “Resources”  on the left
  5. The version number will be displayed alongside the “About” button on the right
  6. It will be either Service Pack 1 or none.

Steps to be followed to install the Service Pack and HotFix

  1. For Ms-Office 2003
  1. Installing Service Pack
  1. If you are using Microsoft Office 2003 you must first install any one Microsoft Office Service Pack before the hot fix can be applied. You can use the following links to install the Microsoft Office Service Pack you want:

  1. Installing Hot Fix
  1. After installing a service pack you need to download the following hot fix and run in on each terminal where Microsoft Word is installed.
  2. Copy and paste  this Link on your web browser  to download and install the Hot Fix

  1. For Ms-Office 2007

This will resolve the issue.

  1. Use the Below Steps to Set Force Set Copy Count option under registry
  1. For Ms-Office 2003
  1. Exit Word 2003
  2. Click Start, click Run type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
  3. Locate and then click to select the following registry subkey:
  4. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Word\Options
  5. After you select the subkey that is specified in the above step , point to New on the Edit menu , and then click DWORD Value
  6. Type ForceSetCopyCount and then press ENTER.
  7. Right-Click ForceSetCopyCount , and then click Modify
  8. In the Value data box, type 1 , and then click OK.
  9. On the File menu, click Exit to exit the Registry Editor.

    1. For Ms-Office 2007
  1. Exit Word 2007
  2. Click Start, click Run type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
  3. Locate and then click to select the following registry subkey:
  4. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Word\Options
  5. After you select the subkey that is specified in the above step , point to New on the Edit menu , and then click DWORD Value
  6. Type ForceSetCopyCount and then press ENTER.
  7. Right-Click ForceSetCopyCount , and then click Modify
  8. In the Value data box, type 1 , and then click OK.
  9. On the File menu, click Exit to exit the Registry Editor

This will resolve the issue.

Note: For  Ms-Office version below 2003 the only solution is upgrade the version of Office to at least 2003.
