3. Client-Server Connectivity Issues
3.1 Connectivity Issues related to Windows Firewall.
Missing Firewall Service

Scenarios where the issue occurs:-

The Scenarios where this issue can occur are as follows:

  1. Windows system files have been corruption due to Viruses.
  2. During OS installation few files were skipped.
How to Identify the issue:-

Steps that help us to identify the issue are as follows:

  1. Connectivity between client and server shows disconnected.
  2. When trying to open the firewall, it gives the following messages:
    1. Windows firewall settings cannot be displayed because the associated service is not running. Do you want to start the windows firewall/internet connection sharing (ICS) service?”  If clicked yes, it pops with another Error message: “Due to an unidentified problem, windows cannot display windows firewall settings” and will not provide access to windows firewall.
    2. When opened the “Windows Services Console”, it shows that “Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing” service is missing.
      1. This happens because the Operating system is not installed properly, e.g.: During installing of operating system, the administrator might have skipped some system32 file causing the Firewall service unregistered. This may be happening because of the damaged Operating system disk.
      2. This can also happen if the Windows Firewall/internet connection sharing service is damaged due to viruses.
Solution Provided:-

Steps to resolve the issue are as follows:

  1. Check if the Client Server connectivity is established through the ping command.
  2. Go to the following path “C:/Program Files/Ideacts/Clinck Cyber Café Manager/Logs and then check the file UDP Send to Client and UDP Received from Client for the following info:
    1. In UDP Send to Client file check if the “Server’s IP address and the Café Code is mentioned”
    2. In UDP Received from Client file check if “Clients IP Address, Terminal Name, Café Code is mentioned”
  3. The above step will help us to check for the Server Client connectivity.
  4. Close the Café Manager Console.
  5. Now the next step will be to check for the Firewall Settings.
  6. Go to Start à Control panel à Windows Firewall àIf it gives the following error message “Windows firewall settings cannot be displayed because the associated service is not running. Do you want to start the windows firewall/internet connection sharing (ICS) service?” then it shows that we have an issue with Firewall service.
  7. Now open the services.msc window by clicking on Start à Run à type Services.msc and press Enter which will open the Services window.
  8. Now search for Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing Service and check if it is started. If not then start the service.
  9. This should resolve the issue.
  10. If The Windows Firewall/Internet Connection Sharing Service  is missing, Then follow the following steps to reproduce the issue:
    1. Close all the running applications
    2. Open notepad
    3. Enter the below given registry in notepad:
