2.1 Unable to Login on iCafe Manager Server
Missing MDAC Files

Scenarios where the issue occurs:-

The Scenarios where this issue can occur are as follows

  1. This issue occurs when Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) are broken or missing.
  2. In Windows 7 MDAC is called as WDAC.
How to Identify the issue:-

Steps that help us to identify the issue are as follows:

  1. While launching C3M Server the version of the application is not displayed.
  2. After Launching C3M Server default admin and password name is displayed.
  3. Usually it happens at the time of first installation of the product.
Solution Provided:-

Root Cause for the issue:

  1. The Main cause of the issue is that MDAC components are corrupted, this can be due to a Windows Update where we already have an existing MDAC version installed on the computer and windows update tries to install a newer one.
  2. MDAC components can also be corrupted due to some virus activity in the computer.
  3. MDAC components were not installed properly at the time of Windows OS installation.


Steps to resolve the issue are as follows:

  1.  For Windows XP (Service Pack 2 or 3)

For Windows XP Service Pack 2 the version used for MDAC is   2.81.1117.0
For Windows XP Service Pack 3 the version used for MDAC is   2.81.1132.0

Steps to resolve the issue

  1. Click on StartàRunàIn the run dialogue box type “inf” and press Enter
  2. This will open the location C:\Windows\Inf
  3. Here Search for the file mdac.inf
  4. Right Click on the file and click on install.
  5. Once you click on Install a new window will appear asking us to browse to the location where the I386 components are stored on the Disk/ CD/Pend drive.
  6. Once we browse to the location we have to select the “” and click on Open, this will copy the new mdac files to the current one.
  7. Start the C3M Server we should be able to login to the application using our credentials.
  8. We can also download and install MDAC from the following website.

Note:  If the above steps does not resolve the issue we can try to use THIRD party tools like MDAC repair to help us resolve the issue. Currently the use of Third party tools is restricted.

  1. For Windows 7

MDAC is called WDAC i.e Windows Data Access Component

For Windows 7 the version for WDAC is 6.0

  1. WDAC is included with Windows 7 it is not distributed separately or cannot be distributed.
  2. In-order to resolve the issue we need to Click on StartàRunà type cmd and then Click OK
  3. A Black window will appear on that window type “sfc/scannow” and press enter
  4. This step will try and repair the windows components.
  5. Once the Scan is complete launch C3M Server we should be able to login.

Note: If the above step does not work, we may have to re-install Windows 7.
